My Outline for Spell Construction
1. Intent Before you begin a journey, you must know where to start.
2. Correspondents Consider which correspondent energy you wish to use during the spell. Select an object and/or tool that will represent that energy during the spell.
3. Visualization Consider how you will visualize the fulfillment of this spell. It may be helpful to incorporate that as a meditation during the ritual.
4. Magickal Tools Make a list of the tools you will need and the items you wish to have on the altar, if there is to be one, for this spell.
5. Deity Select the deity you wish to invoke during the spell. Choose an item to represent the deity, if you are using an altar. Consider how you will honor this deity, perhaps by writing out a prayer.
6. Cakes & Wine Consider whether you will use the cakes and wine ritual within your spellwork. If so, write out what you intend to use for the food & beverage.
7. Location Consider where you will be casting the spell. Make sure you are relaxed and comfortable there, have time for the privacy required, and make sure it is clean and uncluttered.
8. Timing Consider what time of the day, what day of the week, what planetary hour or phase of the moon during which you will cast this spell. Depending upon the working, you might or might not spend a lot of time researching these times. However, remember that the characteristic of utmost importance is intent.
9. Basic Elements With any spellwork, it is important to follow certain basic elements.
10. Spell Record Make a record of the spell using the Spell Record outline. This should be kept in your physical Book of Shadows.
